65 Gretsch USA 6117 Double Anniversary Hollow Body Electric Guitar w/OHSC

This is the ’65 Gretsch 6117 Double Anniversary Hollow Body Electric Guitar. 24.6″ scale. 1.70″ nut width. 15.75″ bottom bout. 2 5/8″ deep. This Double Anni is an incredible find. The wood here has age perfectly, creating one of the most resonant Gretsch’s you will ever lay your hands on. Even unplugged this sounds like a warm acoustic guitar with exceptional projection. A sure sign of a finely crafted guitar. When you plug in, all of that resonance combines with the complex mids and overall sweet tone of the Hilo’Tron pickups. These are the perfect compliment to the natural guitar tone here. Combined with the 3 way tone switch, 3 way pickup selector, dual volumes, and the master volume, there are an entire palette of tones here. All your favorite Gretsch sounds are right there with a little something extra special thanks to the natural resonance. Just beautiful. The neck here is thin- just .84″ deep at the 5th fret with a C profile. This neck fits right into your hands, there’s just a real special feel to the classic Gretsch’s. The look here is absolutely gorgeous- sunburst finish, full body & neck binding, G tailpiece, and chrome hardware. Time has been very kind to this Anni, the nut has a small chip, there was a binding repair on the treble side with some finish wear there as well(pics) and the general small marks you expect to find on a guitar nearing its 50th birthday- but excellent condition overall. The frets here are clean- this 6117 was just professionally set up with action of 7/64″ at the 12th fret. This auction includes the original hardshell case, original COA, Hilo’Tron manual, OK Card, Space Control Bridge manual, and Bobby Lee leather strap. This is your chance to get your hands on a truly wonderful find- the ’65 Gretsch 6117 Double Anniversary.
